UK Work Study announces second funding round via the SEEDRS platform
UK Work Study, a rising company in aiding international students and workers move to the UK, has been accepted by SEEDRS for a second round of funding.
UK Work Study supplies a unique student and worker starter pack, primarily through B2B channel partners. The ‘UK Study Pack’ and ‘UK Work Pack’ includes a guide and application forms for opening a UK bank account before arrival, pre-paid cash card, international money transfer, a UK telephone number, comprehensive guides to Living and Studying or Working in the UK, travel essentials, National Insurance number assistance and a number of other discounted items. UK Work Study also partner with companies in other key areas such as visa assistance and application, university and work placement advice, accommodation, shipping, insurance and hotels and travel - providing discount with these partners and making great money saving opportunities for their customers. All of these areas can be difficult for a foreign visitor to organise before arrival, and both the stress and the time involved are reduced.
UK Work Study plan to use this investment for key product developments. After extensive customer feedback and based on the latest technology trends, the plan is to develop a mobile optimised web engagement and delivery platform that will appeal to B2C student and work market places. This will offer a modular choice of ‘unbundled’ products based around the demand that has been generated, whilst the full packs will be retained for the B2B sector.
The investment will also be used for digital marketing; the Facebook activity since the last funding has resulted in generating over 20,000 fans for the UK Study Pack and 20,000 fans for the UK Work Pack. The objective is to increase this number and monetise the fan base.
Nigel Follett, Director of Marketing, Web and Social Media says, “Having an established customer base has enabled us to review our product offering, routes to market and the services we supply. The customer feedback we have received has made us realise that we need to offer our products on a modular basis, in a totally mobile environment. For this, we require additional funding, and with the success we achieved in March 2013 with the first round – Seedrs was an obvious route to select again.”
Beverley Nash, Director of UK Work Study says, “SEEDRS is a fully regulated platform which makes investing in start-ups simple, and making it possible for any number of people to invest with any amount in a straightforward process. Our goal is to create a completely up to date mobile environment , increase our reach and increase our product range. In order to achieve this in the most effective and timely way we require funding. This is phase 2 of our planned investment campaign.
UK Work Study are also running a major event this month – the BOSSA Chinese Study Abroad Agency Fair. BOSSA is an NGO based in Beijing consisting of 69 agency members – of which over 35 are coming to the UK for a week of education fairs. This event is being supported by London Higher, the British Council, Association of Colleges, English UK London and London & Partners. This event presents UK Work Study with the opportunity to meet with over 200 education establishments. For more information visit www.uk-study-pack.com/BOSSA .
UK Work Study are raising £50,000 and offering 6.5% of the company as equity. As an additional bonus for investors, the Government provides a very lucrative incentive for investing in start-up companies. In March 2013, UK Work Study was approved by the HMRC for the Enterprise Investment Scheme.
The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) offers eligible investors the opportunity to claim back up to 30% of their investment in eligible companies through income tax relief (for investments of up to £1 million). Additionally, investors won’t pay any CGT on the disposal of shares at a profit, and may be able to claim loss relief if you dispose of them at a loss.
“This is an amazing opportunity from the Government “ says Beverley Nash. “It essentially means that whatever amount you invest, 30% can be offset against income tax relief.
